PDSCL currently operates 2 staffed homes licensed by Community Care Facilities Licensing. Residents are referred by Community Living British Columbia (CLBC). Each home is unique both in care provided and style.
"People who are approved for this option need quite a bit of support with many areas of daily living. Staff who work in the home can help you with things like cooking, budgeting, personal care, recreation, and connecting to your community. They get to know you well and will support you to get involved in the home and the community in a way that is comfortable for you. In a staffed living situation, up to four people usually live together in the home. You share some areas of the home with others who live there, but you have your own room that you can decorate as you like and where you can go when you want or need time to be by yourself. Staff do not live in the home but work on a schedule to provide the support that is needed. "
PDSCL operates 2 homes and each are staffed 24/7. Other than night shifts, there are normally 2 staff on at a time to ensure the needs of the home are met.
Residents who live in the home often participate in PDSCL-wide activities and events, such as Christmas parties, block parties, summer BBQs and much more.
The staff in PDSCL’s homes are carefully screened and selected. They must meet certain specific criteria including Certification in Human Service Worker program or the equivalent in experience and training, Criminal Record Check, Foodsafe, NVCI, and First Aid training.
PDSCL is hiring Residence Workers to join the Supported Living team.
